Planning

If your dream is to just add extra within your existing property by converting a garage or building a single storey extension, then chances are that you will need to apply for Planning Approval from your Local Authority.

These days however, not every modification to your property will require planning permission. Under recent changes to Planning law there are now several omissions or circumstances where Planning is not required.
If you follow the link below, a new window will open up that will detail those areas of the building where Planning is NOT required.

However, even if you should find that your modification or extension is exempt from submission, you may find that you could still need Building Regulations Approval.

Details of this can be found on the link. Should your extension be exempt from making a submission it may be a good idea to have planning drawings drawn up, as this will help any builders you approach to carry out the work prepare a suitable quote. With each builder having the same information, it should mean that all quotes are made like for like.
